Thanks to a generous contribution from the Houston Endowment, ReEnergize Texas is proud to announce the launch of ReEnergize Houston!
This uniquely focused program will help students and young people in Houston bring a clean energy future to Houston. We will make the largest city in Texas a leader in the clean energy industries of the 21st century, just as it was a leader in the fossil fuel industries of the 20th century.
The ReEnergize Houston project will consist of -
- The ReEnergize Houston Summit: a local event to bring students and young people together with leaders of colleges and universities, city officials, and business leaders to educate one another about local priorities and begin establishing projects and goals
- Leadership Development Program: an opportunity for young leaders to develop skills leading by leading projects under the supervision of ReEnergize Texas staff
- Speaking Events and Trainings: funds will be available for student groups to host on campus events and trainings up to 3 times per semester related to air quality and energy
- Green Fee Campaigns: with passage of the Green Fee Bill in the 2009 Texas Legislative Session comes the opportunity for every public college and university in the state to create student fees of up to $5 per semester to fund campus sustainability projects, and ReEnergize Houston will help educate and rally students so that fees on Houston-area campuses may be created
